Seven Weeks Old

The Many Faces of Carlisle

Mommy and Daddy have been trying really hard to get me to smile for the camera, and they have been taking a lot of pictures of me. Here are a few.

Not much has changed since last week. I have been to lunch with Mommy a few places and hung out with friends my age this week: Corinne, Ben, John Mark. I am kicking a lot while I am awake, but I still clench my fists. I haven't quite figured out that they work yet.

My grandma and grandpa came to see me last weekend. We all went out to eat and I got a little upset and hungry in the restaurant. Mommy and Daddy were glad they picked a loud restaurant. We also went to the park again and had another picnic and walked around the park.

I have discovered ceiling fans (on or off) and lights. Mommy and Daddy should have registered for lamps and ceiling fans rather than these toys they put in my face!

Much Love,
Carlisle Drew

Six Weeks Old

So many exciting things happen each day! Because the weather was so nice, Mom and Dad took me to the Park for a picnic and a stroll this weekend. There were lots of people enjoying the pretty day. I can't wait to swing!

This was a big week since it was Holy Week. We went to church a lot to get me used to sitting in the pew. On Monday we went to the noon day service to hear Daddy preach. I sat through it but jumped when the organ started. On Thursday we went to the Maundy Thursday service and sat behind my friend Corrinne. I was awake through half of it until the sermon started. Someone sat with me so Mommy could go take communion. Also in preparation for Easter Sunday I wore a lot of dresses this week so I would know what that was like. On Saturday, Mommy and Daddy's sunday school class had their annual Easter Party. There were LOTS of kids and food. I took my new pink Longaburger basket that someone gave me and a friend gave me 3 Easter eggs since I could not hunt them myself. On Sunday, Mommy got us all pretty and we actually made it to the 8:00 service ( in the pew at 7:55!). We sat in the balcony with Mr. Jim and Kelly. There were lots of new sounds - trumpets, bells, drums. I got upset once which scared Mommy but then I fell alseep. Lots of people were excited to see me for the first time. Mommy said I looked pretty in my new dress, bonnet, bloomers, and pink shoes. We took lots of pictures. Uncle Andrew came down for Easter lunch and to hang out.

On Monday, I met Mommy and Daddy's friends Jamie and Emily. I was upset for most of the day but that didn't spoil our dinner with them and Abby and Jim. We had fun! I gave Mommy and Daddy a treat and slept 5 hours that night. They were shocked! Mommy got a clean bill of health from her doctor Tuesday so I think we will start getting out more to exercise and walk.

Have a great week! Carlisle Drew

one month old

I turned one month old! On April 3rd! To celebrate mommy pulled out my activity mat. I can't really play with it just yet, but I stare at the objects hanging from the bars and occasionally I kick the objects and music plays. From a suggestion from one of mommy's friends, we are going to take my picture next to a stuffed animal each month to see how I grow and change. I chose the big dog that friends Mary Nell, Shannon and Debbie gave to me.

Last week we got out and about again. We went to a restaurant for the first time with Mommy's friends from her Wednesday night covenant group. My friends Corrinne and John Mark were there to. Corrinne and I slept the whole time. After that we went and visited Daddy at work and he showed me around the church. On Wednesday, we were able to go to church again and Mommy and Daddy's friend Kelly came and got me and played with me while Mommy was in her group.

Mommy's parents Memie and Papa Nick came to visit on Thursday. They let Mommy get out Friday night with her dear friend Abby for some "girl" time. On Saturday, Mommy and Daddy went on a date to the movies and out to eat and again Memie and Papa Nick watched me. However, I was a mess and gave them fits by being upset and not taking my bottle initially. When Mommy and Daddy got home, everyone looked pooped from the eventful evening. While Memie and Papa Nick were here, some bad storms came through the area. Daddy took pictures of the hail that fell from the sky. It was loud! Memie and Papa Nick brought me books for Easter which is something her mom did when she was little. Mommy hasn't read them to me yet but I hope she does soon.

I also had a visit from Miss Carol and Miss Ginger, Abby's mommy and grandmother. They were soon fun! Miss Carol brought me a doll to take to church. Her name is Meg.

The biggest news of the week is that I have started to smile. I smile so quick though that Mommy and Daddy can't take a picture of it. Daddy has gotten more smiles than Mommy has to date. I am working on smiling longer so everyone can see.

I am going to church this Sunday for Easter so wish me luck in sitting through a church service with Mommy.

Love to you all,
Carlisle Drew

3 Weeks Old

Hello all!
I have not updated you on where I have been lately because some of you have seen me recently. This week was great! The spring weather finally arrived so I took mom to the park near us (Pinkerton Park on Hwy 96). It was spring break here for the older kids so the park was busy. My nextdoor neighbors, Travis and Taylor, were there swinging. Mom and I walked the walking path, and I slept the entire time. I have included a picture of me sleeping in my stroller at the park.

Wednesday night we got out to Mommy's Wednesday night covenant group. This was the first time we had to be somewhere on time and looking presentable as Mom would say. We were a few minutes late because Mommy underestimated how long it took to get us both out the door. I got to be there with Corinne Hickman, my new friend who was born the day before me. Again, I slept the entire time. Dad came and got me half way through to show me off to people around the church. Since it was spring break there were not many people there so it was safe for me to get out and about at church. Mom says we will try to go back again this Wednesday. Yeah!

Mommy and Daddy have discovered that I have a preferred position to be held and that is on their chest or near their shoulder. My head control is getting stronger so I can look around from up there. I have included some pictures of me sleeping in this position on Daddy.

Saturday was a really big day. Mommy and Daddy took me out for most of the day. First we went to some friends' house so Daddy could work on a brochure. We were there for a while and again I slept the entire time, even through their dog Lucky sniffing me a lot. I needed to eat so Mommy fed me in the car. They changed me on the seat of the car and while my legs were in the air I projectile pooped out of the car and onto the pavement of the Church of Christ parking lot we had stopped at. Then we went to Babies R Us in Nashville to exchange some gifts people sent me and again I slept. Our friends the Martin's moved into their new house so we took the dinner and again I slept. Then we went next door to our neighbor's house to watch basketball and eat cookies, but I didn't sleep for that trip. I hear Mommy and Daddy say that they may have to drive me around at night if I don't go to sleep at night since I like riding in the car. It was a busy week and I am exhausted so I am going to take a nap!

Love and Kisses,
Carlisle Drew

2 Weeks Old

Hi everybody!
I want to thank everyone for coming to see me and calling mom and dad to check on them. They are doing well except that they are not used to my sleep schedule. They want me to sleep at night but I am not sure why. I am very content sleeping during the day.

I have had an exciting week so celebrate my being 2 weeks old! I went to the doctor on Friday. Dr. Lee said I weighed 9 lbs 5 oz and was 21.5 inches long. He said this was above what his goal would be for me at this stage. Yeah! I enjoyed the doctor's visit for the most part minus being undressed in the cold room. I get to go back for a 2 month visit when I start my shots. I am not excited about that.

I watched the Memphis game Friday afternoon with daddy with all of my Memphis gear given to me by my neighbors (Travis and Taylor and their parents Jason and Jennifer). I think that's why Memphis won!

The biggest news of the week was that my umbilical cord fell off so I could have a real bath. I did not enjoy it and let mom and dad know by pooping in th bath water. They didn't know what to do from there so they started over with a sponge bath.

Well I am tired again and need a nap. Enjoy the pictures and we will be in touch soon!

Love you all,
Carlisle Drew
